Aug 13 2010 - Shop open!

Hey guys! Just a quick update here. I have just opened my first Etsy shop! My clay crafts are finally made available for sale through Etsy, so if you like what you see, why not grab them? Most of my items are OOAK and I’m not even sure if I want to reproduce some of the designs, heh. Right now I have only phone charms and rings for sale there, but you’ll see more in the future. The near future.

Just a quick look of what I have for sale:

I’m tempted to wear some of them, but I already have more than enough for use. Ugh, I can’t believe I’m easily tempted by my own works. Haha!

Well, that’s it I guess. I’ll have another post up soon once I’m done with the pictures!

Aug 07 2010 - Being a cheapskate

I love shopping at the 100yen stores and dollar shops. They have a wide variety of stuff that are sold at low prices, and you can be a shopaholic without troubling your wallet. As a matter of fact, most of my tools and supplies are purchased from Daiso (with exception to paints, brushes, clay, crystals, findings). If there is a Daiso in your vicinity, or the online store offers shipping to your country, raid them.

Last week, I went shopping at Daiso, and here’s my loot:

Bento cutters in animal shapes. They are like cookie cutters, but they are made specifically for cutting stuff like nori (seaweed), cheese, rice. But I guess you can use them to cut cookie dough. And I use them to cut clay.

Craft magnets. Stick one behind your sweets and they become fridge magnets! Most awesome. My refrigerator is actually full of sweets right now because of this.

Erasers in different colours. You are probably wondering what erasers have got to do with sweets deco. Well, I use them to make this…

…candy sprinkles! Just cut them up in fine pieces, and you can decorate your doughnuts and cupcakes with it. And of course, your finished works will smell like fruits too. Scented erasers are my favourite stationery.

Now, these play a big part in my sweets making, especially pastries. Foundation sponges are very useful, let me show you how:

Jul 27 2010 - Not dead yet

Come sit with me for some tea

No, I’m not dead yet. I’m just really bogged down by a lot of things going on in my life. And oh, I’ve just recovered from a terrible case of flu, complete with pounding migraines… but that’s besides the point. The point is, the weather in Singapore has been so terrible, lots of sun and warmth and humidity one minute, and then heavy downpour and strong cold winds the next. If I could I would stay cooped up at home and never go out to join the hundreds of thousands on the streets sneezing and coughing, but I can’t. Please take good care of yourselves as the weather this year is really the worst.

Alright, now that’s done, let’s talk about crafting. I’m still making fake sweets and pastries whenever I can, like the macarons you see up there. I’m also preparing to start an etsy store to sell some clay goods and doll-sized jewellery since I always make too much of everything and I can’t use all of them. I enjoy sculpting, making things, but I don’t enjoy stashing them away under my bed because I can’t use them.

I’m also preparing some tutorials which I think might be good for beginners… since I am an amateur myself, haha. One of them would be a macaron tutorial (no surprise right there, huh?), it’s one of the things I’ve learnt to make right recently. And then some tips and tricks from the 100yen store (yay!). I love 100yen stores and dollar shops, I can buy a truckload of things and my wallet won’t even cry, LOL.

Oh, also, I recently got myself a Dreamwidth journal. If you are a Dreamwidth user and too lazy to check your RSS reader, you can subscribe to my posts there. Entries from here will be cross-posted to there.

And that’s all for this entry guys. Let’s talk again soon!
